ABOUT BELLROCK

Bellrock is the Insurance Industry vanguard and does things differently.
We understand property investment, trust companies and the risks and exposures faced.
Our innovative approach to commercial property insurance stands testament to this.

We offer extremely competitive premiums and our packages incorporate a host of ground breaking features. For example, acquired properties are automatically included within the cover (material damage and liability) regardless of whether you inform us or not. This inclusion offers tremendous peace of mind, especially for properties that are difficult to insure such as unoccupied buildings. Bellrock can also offer you a see-at-a-glance pre-agreed premium rating, calculated pro-rata and the broadest possible cover. Furthermore, the traditional quotation system is dead and buried at Bellrock. Instead, we select an appropriate insurer (often non-mainstream A-rated internationals with modest Australian operations) and provide a detailed briefing of the terms required.
The underwriter has the simple task of accepting or declining the placement. This may appear arrogant; however most insurers find this transparent approach strikingly refreshing with every placement negotiated on its own merits, it’s a down-to-earth approach that works. The selection process is a bilateral one. We only approach clients and industries where we can truly add value.
OUR THINKING WHY THE NAME?
GLOBAL PLACEMENTS
Bellrock can provide you with insurance solutions globally. Bellrock have access to a full suite of Global Insurance Services that are provided within an international group. A full list of credentials can be provided upon request.
There is a reef, virtually submerged, 11 miles off the east coast of Scotland, which has been a ship's graveyard for centuries. In the 1400's (before lighthouses were invented) a bell was erected on the rock to ward off disaster. Thus, the name Bellrock. The bell was washed away after two years. In 1799, a brilliant young engineer, Robert Stevenson (Grandfather of Robert Louis Stevenson), designed a lighthouse, incorporating innovative new methods. There was uproar at the time; however Robert Stevenson argued that his design had to be creative in order for the lighthouse to stand the test of time. Construction of the lighthouse  commenced in 1807. (Bellrock Broking Pty Limited was established on 2007 - 200 years later)

On the 1st February 1811 Bellrock Lighthouse first shone its light and 200 years later still shines it’s warning to sailors – it is the oldest seafaring lighthouse in the world today.

Different thinking was required to stand the test of time. The Bellrock Lighthouse may not be still standing if the existing methods of the 1790’s were used.

The bell is synonymous with Insurance. The Lutine Bell (recovered from The Lutine’s shipwreck) is housed in the Lloyd’s of London building. The bell is rung when a large loss occurs – a call to arms.

The typical Insurance Broker business model is unashamedly built around maximization of bottom line profits and client ring-fencing is often against the client's best interests.

Stephen McCarthy has founded and operated Insurance Broking firms for over 30 years; he finally "twigged" that these objectives may conflict with his mission to achieve the best outcome for his clients.

When establishing this new Insurance Broking business model in 2007, the business plan was built around the following principle objectives:
•       Create an environment where negotiations are genuinely motivating underwriters on a totally transparent level.
•       Provide a logical servicing platform to achieve the ultimate Client/Broker relationship (i.e. no barriers to ring-fence clients)

Our experience has proven that if we get the above objectives right, the bottom line profits and loyal clients will follow.

Stephen McCarthy

Bellrock Broking Founding Director, Stephen McCarthy, was stumped. He had an idea, a vision, but no name and no way of showcasing it to the world... However, true to Stephen's tenacious nature, he never gave up on his 'hunch' and put his trust in the people he worked hardest for - his clients. And so, in 2007, with the aid of a prominent client, the name 'Bellrock Broking' was born.

Beginning his highly successful career at RACQ, a company he thanks for his grounding in customer service, Peter then made the switch to QBE,
where he cut his teeth as an underwriter before joining GIO.
